MIC College of arts and science is situated in a rural area with majority of members in the society belongs to minority and backward classes. The college has different courses in which computer science stands in the apex, leading the locale in educating the society in technology and stands as torch bearers for the people who are unaware of the latest advancement in the field of computer science.

Information technology is the world’s fastest growing economic activity. It is transforming resource based to knowledge based economy. The application and impact of information technology is spreading so fast in various areas such as skill development, design competence, mass media research, publications, communication, , transportation, health, financial infrastructure, industrial productivity and managerial efficiency. The use of IT in governance can be highly affective and citizen friendly contributing to the standard of living of the people.

The BSC courser in computer science started during the year 2012-13. The strength of a batch was 24. Seminars on emerging topics are conducted every year. The well equipped state of the art lab provides a simulating ambience for innovative studies. The course equips the students to get deep knowledge on software development. Seminars on topic of current importance help the students update with the recent improvements in computer applications.

The department has a well equipped computer lab with 30 systems with battery backup. These systems are fully networked. There are one printers. Portable writers and scanners are used. The lab has broadband internet facility.

Presently BSc Computer science has 8 main papers and four subsidiary papers. Out of 36 seats in first semester BSc computer science 20% is reserved for Muslim backward community, 15% for SC/ST, 20% for management quota and rest for general merit.

The computer science association includes all students of the department. It is started in the beginning of each academic year. At the time of the college election an association secretary is elected from computer science department. The association organizes seminars, workshops and other extension activities for students every year. It conducts an average of one seminar per month. The rate of seminars conducted is very high when compared to other departments.

The department conducts industrial visits for the students mainly to different IT parks and software companies.

Computer science department has an alumni association where all students studied in the department are members. It has an administration with secretary and a joint secretary.

Most of the students completed their course has gone for MSc computer science and MCA courses. Some of the meritorious students join the pg courses with stipend provided by various institutions. A big bunch of students has bagged IT jobs and are well placed in various companies like Infosys, Wipro, IBM, TCS etc all over India as well as abroad.

ODD SEMESTER (June – November)


  • 1. 3 rd semester B.Sc. starts on 1 st week of June.
  • 2. 5 th semester, 1 st Semester B.Sc. Classes starts on in 2 nd week of June.
  • 3. 3 rd semester and 5 th Semester Class P.T.A meeting in 4 th week of June.
  • 4. 6-day orientation programme for 1st year B.Sc students on first week of July.
  • 5. Second year practical examination on second week of July.
  • 6. 1 st internal exam series for 5 th semester and 3 rd semester B.Sc. on 4 th week of July.
  • 7. Session of BSc on every Thursday (minimum Two session in a month)
  • 8. Tutorial session for BSc on Wednesday, it commences on 1 week of July
  • 9. Seminar Presentations of 5 th semester B.Sc. on last week of September.
  • 10. First Phase evaluation of B.Sc. projects during 3 rd week of August.
  • 11. 2 nd internal exam series for 5 th semester and 3 rd semester B.Sc. on 2 nd week of October.
  • 12. Special Coaching class for placement and higher education (twice in a month).
